10 things in real life we wish we could back up

You stare at the screen dismayed as Microsoft Word sputters and crashes, frantically trying to save your work. Not this time buddy — looks like you’re SOL. The only thing to do is grab another cup of coffee and start over again.

We’ve all been there before. And in IT, we’ve also been on the other side, haranguing users about the importance of backing up their PCs and saving their work regularly. “Backing up your system is important damnit,” we say. “Do you really want to risk losing it all? Do you?”

Ok, we get it — back ups are important. But with World Backup Day approaching, we wanted to experiment with a little question: If it were possible, what real life things would you back up? What moments in life would you redo?

Just think about it: You hit a button, rewind a few minutes, and take another whack at things. It’s a concept sci-fi has run with, sure, but now it’s our turn. As Spiceworks prepares to celebrate World Backup Day, here are the 10 real-life things we would back up and restore in a second if only it were possible.
